The Unbearable Incompetence of Hope n Change.

...Making Jimmy Carter look like a brilliantly decisive statesman.

Kim P. wrote about the byzantine constipation of the EPA which rejected Dutch oil skimmers here.

It's nice to see that the Judiciary (at least this one member of the Judiciary) is not completely beholden to The One and his progressive schemes, and actually understands the rule of law over thuggery.

Another triumph for Marxist Hope and Change, Venezuelan dictator and Hollywood idol Hugo Chavez is now looting warehouses to confiscate food as his scheme of nationalizing supermarkets and confiscating farms proves about as successful as Robby Mugabe's policies of doing the same. Venezuelan army soldiers swept through the working class, pro-Chavez neighborhood of Catia in Caracas last week, seizing 120 tons of rice along with coffee and powdered milk that officials said was to be sold above regulated prices.

It was Michael Barone who first used the phrase "gangster government" to refer to the Obama administration's lawlessness. Today he expands on that thought, describing the administration's actions in the Gulf as "ineffective thuggery."

Thuggery is unattractive. Ineffective thuggery even more so. Which may be one reason so many Americans have been reacting negatively to the response of Barack Obama and his administration to BP's gulf oil spill.

This really has to be seen to be believed. We all know that MSNBC--Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, etc.--is in the tank for the Obama administration, but I think this is the first time an on-air MSNBC personality has confessed to "working with the White House" on talking points; here, regarding the Gulf oil spill. The MSNBC employee in question is Mika Brzezinski, the daughter of Jimmy Carter's national security adviser. It's really pretty funny to see her reading the White House talking points on air:

In a press conference today DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen attempted to use the oil spill to garner support for his politically motivated DISCLOSE bill.

The definition of a tough crowd? When Obama sycophants like Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and Ezra Klein all give the President’s speech the worst reviews since the latest Ben Affleck movie, there’s not a whole heckuva lot for the MWU to add. Perhaps Olbermann said it best (didn’t think you’d ever see that line, did you?

Responding to President Obama’s speech about the Gulf oil spill this morning, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, “The immediate issue here is a broken pipe that’s been spewing hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil a day into the ocean for mor

If there is anything worse for a leader than rhetorical impotence, I don’t know what it is. Even a sex scandal implies some sort of virility. But empty words? [Text here.]

House Republicans have been busy today on America Speaking Out.com. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so! We started off the day with a video from Rep. 57 days after oil spill began, President Obama, along with his most trusted advisor, Ted Teleprompter,  will address the nation tonight about the horrible situation in the Gulf. We’ve read that much of the speech will have absolutely nothing to do with fixing the leak. Right now, people across the country are unanimous in their desire for the leak to be plugged and the mess to be cleaned up, period. Diverting attention and resources to other ideological or reactionary pursuits is not the answer right now.

Lindsey Graham is clearly working on a deal with the Obama administration to close the detention facility at Guantanamo and move the terrorist detainees to the United States. It is a terrible idea in itself and Senator Graham cannot possibly secure any consideration from the Obama administration that would justify it.
